Una descripción del Día de la Raza en inglés se llama "Columbus Day", es un día que celebraba la llegada de Cristóbal Colón a América. Ahora hay una controversia a causa de las acciones de él y su tratamiento (treatment) de las personas indígenas.
Cristóbal Colón el hombre italiano que llegó en las Bahamas en 1492 con la ayuda de España. Pensó que descubrió una ruta nueva a China, pero llegó en América.
