Includes the brain, spinal cord, and a complex network of nerves. This system sends messages back and forth between the brain and the body. The brain is what controls all the body's functions. Nervous System
This system carries oxygen, nutrients, and hormones to cells, and removes waste products, like carbon dioxide. Circulatory System
The organs that take in food and liquids and break them down into substances that the body can use for energy, growth, and tissue repair. Digestive System
Takes up oxygen from the air we breathe and expels the unwanted carbon dioxide. Respiratory System
The removal of metabolic wastes, the elimination of excess water, osmoregulation (or the balance between salt and water across membranes of the body), and the maintenance of homeostasis. Excretory System
An organ system consisting of skeletal, smooth, and cardiac muscle. It permits movement of the body, maintains posture, and circulates blood throughout the body. Muscular System
Your body's support structure. It gives your body its shape, allows movement, makes blood cells, provides protection for your organs and stores minerals. Skeletal System
