Term | Definition |

Speed | Rate of change of distance with respect to time. |
Displacement | Distance in a given direction. |
Velocity | Rate of change of displacement with respect to time. |
Acceleration | Rate of change of velocity with respect to time. |
Acceleration due to gravity | The acceleration that all objects fall down with in the absence of air resistance due to the gravitational pull caused by the Earth/moon/planet. |
Gravity | The force by which a planet or body draws an object towards its centre. |
Vector | A quantity that has direction and magnitude. e.g. Velocity, acceleration, displacement. |
Scalar | A quantity that has magnitude only. e.g. Speed, distance, time. |
