Preserve To keep something exactly how it is now.
Ravine A deep, narrow, steep space between mountains/hills
Tranquility A state of calmness
Reluctant Unwilling and hesitant to do something
Feat An achievement that requires great courage, skill, or strength
Surge When water rises and falls heavily. Tossing waves.
Subside To become quieter or less violent. To calm down
Sneer A mocking smile or tone
Veer To change direction suddenly
Stagger To walk/move unsteadily
Sapling A young tree with a slender trunk
Kindling Small pieces of wood to start a fire
Flint A hard, gray rock made of chert used with steel to start a fire
Ration A fixed amount of food/supplies that you’re allowed to have in order to share with your group
