8-Angles Unit 7
7.1- Angle Relationships
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| perpendicular lines | when two lines intersect to form a right angle |
| parallel lines | when two lines never intersect |
| transveral | a line that intersects two or more other lines |
| interior angles | angles located between parallel lines cut by a transversal |
| exterior angles | angles located outside parallel lines cut by a transversal |
| alternate interior angles | interior angles with the same measurement |
| alternate exterior angles | exterior angles with the same measurement |
| corresponding angles | two angles that are in the same position on the parallel lines in relation to the transversal |
| supplementary angles | two angles that make a straight line and the sum equals 180 degrees |
| vertical angles | Angles that are across from each other and do not share a side. |
| line segment | part of a line containing two endpoints and all of the points between them. |
| vertex | the point where line segments intersect |
| triangle | shape formed by three line segments that intersect at their endpoints |
| interior angles (triangle) | all three angles inside the triangle - the sum of all the angles equals 180 degrees |
| exterior angles (triangle) | angle formed by one side of the triangle and the extension of the adjacent side |
| right triangle | a triangle with a 90 degree angle |
| legs | the sides that form the right angle of a right triangle |
| hypotenues | the side of a right triangle that is opposite the right angle, it is the longest side of a right triangle. |
