Wash hands and any equipment Remember the eight rights Provide the person privacy and explain procedure Ask person to place affected area in a comfortable position to apply topical medication Apply gloves and apply medication directly on dressing
What is smooth muscle? Its found in the walls of the hollow organs of the body.
What does the respiratory system do? Oxygen/Carbon Dioxide exchange between environment and the body. Also helps with controlling the body heat.
What is angina? the decrease in Blood flow to the heart causing pain.
What is congestive heart failure? A condition in which the blood backs up into the heart, veins, and organs causing swelling.
How does aging affect cardiovascular system? The heart slows down. The arteries begin to loose their elasticity and become hard due to loss of skeletal muscle tone, the veins do not return the blood to the heart as readily as they did when you were younger.
The typical procedure for administrating a nitroglycerin tablet are? Under the tongue
What do you do to administering Nitroglycerin Tablets? Take a blood pressure, give one tablet every 5 minutes for up to 15 minutes if cheat pain persists. Be sure to take a blood pressure prior to administering each tablet. If the chest pain is not relieved after 2 tablets 911 should be called.
What are the functions of the digestive system? Breaks down food into nutrients the body can use to nourish cells. Transports nutrients Excrete waste
What organ is responsible for metabolism many medications? Liver
When administrating oral medications the person should also be...? Awake and put right
When passing a person medications you should? Also remain with the person while they take the medication.

What are some systems of hypoglycemia? Sweating, Fainting, Clammy skin

What medication is used to treat Endocrine Disorders? TSH- Thyroid Hormones, generic name, Synthroid, trade name
The kidney does what for the body? Filter Everything
What are the types of strokes? Embolitic, and Hemorrhagic
Embolitic stokes are? Due to a blood clot
Hemorrhagic stokes are? Due to a broken blood vessel that breaks in the brain.
What are some symptoms of dementia? Forgetfulness, extreme memory loss, Decrease in intellectual function.
What is epilepsy? Over stimulation of the nerve cells in the brain.
