Poetry Genres

Can you tell which is which?

QuestionAnswer
What is Lyrical Poetry? Written in first person and expresses the mind, perceptions and emotions. Usually has a musical quality.
What is Satirical Poetry? Classical genre that uses wit and humor to ridicule human behavior, thought and society. Used to instigate change by ridiculing a person, a group, a thing or an idea.
What is Pastoral Poetry? Deals with themes of life, death, love and natures beauty. Explores connections between human life and nature.
Which is an example of of Lyrical Poetry? Limerick or Sonnet? Sonnet. ex) Sonnet 18 by Willaim Shakespear
