Platelets to prevent and stop bleeding
Red blood cells carry oxygen from the lungs and deliver it throughout our body
White blood cells help the body fight infection and other diseases
Pathogens cause illness to their hosts
Antigens causes your immune system to produce antibodies against it
B-cells produce antibodies, antigen presenting cells, and contributing to inflammatory pathways directly
Antibodies recognizes foreign substances like bacteria and viruses, and neutralizes them
Innate Immunity the first line of defense against invading pathogens
Acquired Immunity strengthens the immune system by teaching it to recognize and fight off germs
Active immunity defense mechanism that helps the body get rid of infective pathogens
Passive immunity the transfer of antibodies from one individual to another
Phagocytes surround and kill microorganisms, ingest foreign material, and remove dead cells
Autoimmune Disease weakening bodily function and even turning life-threatening
Innate prevent infection and attack the invading pathogens
Neutrophil boost the response of other immune cells
Dendritic regulate the adaptive immune response
Helper T help activate cytotoxic T cells to kill infected target cells
Macrophage defense against pathogens and tissue homeostasis and repair
Cytotoxic T kill certain cells, including cancer cells, foreign cells, and cells infected with a virus
Memory B help the body respond to new antigens and remember the antigens
Plasma B producing antibodies (Abs).
B Lymphocytes create a type of protein called an antibody
T Lymphocytes help protect the body from infection and may help fight cancer
