| Itinerary | a plan of a journey, including the route and the places that you visit |
| Long-haul flight | flights that extend beyond 6 hours |
| Go off the beaten track | to visit an uncommon place |
| To get itchy feet | to start to want to travel |
| Vulnerability | the fact of being weak and easily hurt physically or emotionally |
| Thirst for adventure | to have an intense desire to travel, explore new places and have new experiences. |
| picturesque | attractive in appearance |
| riveting | keeping you glued to the screen |
| to steal the show | to be the most popular or the best part of an event or situation |
| prequel | a film (book, play) about events that happened before those of a previous popular film (book, play) |
| cameo | a brief appearance of a famous actor in a film |
| above the line | the costs of making a movie associated with the major creative talent, including the director, actors, writers, and producers |
| Nail-biting | a situation is very exciting or worrying because you do not know how it will end |
| tagline | a short sentence or clever phrase that memorably summarizes the film to a general audience |
| to binge-watch | to watch several episodes (= separate parts) of a television series or program, one after another |
| TV/movie-junkee | someone who spends hours watching movies and possibly has seen almost every movie depending on the genre |
| to zap | to use an electronic device to change television channels quickly, sometimes to avoid watching advertisements |
| attribution | a legal concept that means identifying or giving credit to the owner or creative artist of a copyrighted work |
| blooper | a funny mistake made by an actor during the making of a film or television program and usually removed before the film or program is shown |
| copyright infringement | the unauthorized use of copyrighted material. |
| Cheugy | as a pejorative description of lifestyle trends associated with the early 2010s and millennials |
| Sustainability | the avoidance of the depletion of natural resources in order to maintain an ecological balance |
| Consignment store | a store that sells second-hand items while the previous owner receives a percentage of the sale |
| Fast fashion | inexpensive clothing that is mass produced in response to the latest fashion trends |
| Censorship | when someone is denied freedom of speech or expression, usually because of a piece of writing, art, or another form of media |
| Defamatory | something that damages another’s reputation or character |
| Slander | to make false and damaging statements about someone while speaking |
| Libel | a published false statement |
| Ostracize | to exclude someone from a society or group, historically through banishment for 10 years. |
| Mimetic | relating to the intentional imitation of others/ a certain group of people |
| Detoxification | the process or act of removing toxic qualities or substances |
| Escapism | the behavior of seeking distraction and relief from reality through imagination or entertainment |
| Validate | to recognize and/or affirm someone’s feelings or opinions |
| Augmented Reality | a form of technology that combines virtual images with real-world images to provide a different view of an object/area/person |
| Meta description | the 130 to 160 word blog summary, which appears just below the blog title, on a search engine |
| Affiliate | a blogger who uses affiliate marketing, a referral program or revenue sharing program that compensates you in return for recommending a product, service or tool for their readers |
| Bleg | A combination of the words “blog” and “beg.” A blog that requests contributions or information from their readers |
| Evergreen сontent | blog posts or other digital content that’s usually very thorough & in-depth, written with the intention of remaining relevant for years to come |
| Capsule wardrobe | a small collection of clothes that can combine in numerous ways to create staple outfits for everyday wear |
| To declutter | to remove the unnecessary items |
| Restraint | the act of controlling or limiting something because it is necessary or sensible to do so |
| To purge | to get rid of something unwanted, harmful, or evil |
| Self-conscious | anxious and uncomfortable because you are worried about what people think about you or your actions |
| Mutual | experienced or felt by both/all individuals in a situation |
| Break the ice | do or say something that makes people who do not know each other feel more comfortable |
| Hit it off | become friendly with each other immediately |
| In retrospect | in looking back and considering the past |
| Stalemate | When neither side in a argument can win |
| Bad blood | feeling of hostility between people based on past occurrences |
| Make amends | make up for a wrongdoing |
| Curfew | specific time of day that you must be at home |
| Helicopter parent | overprotective and overly involved in child’s life |
| Runs in the family | a quality that many members of a family have |
| Framily (not a common word) | slang for friends who are so close that they are like family! |
| Elope | run away to secretly get married without the permission of your parents |
| Ask someone out | invite someone to go on a date |
| Vow | formal promise to commitment, usually in marriage |
| Fidelity | faithfulness to a spouse or partner |
| Breadwinner | the member of a family who earns the money that the family needs |
| Offspring | a person's children |
| Black sheep | a person who has done something bad that brings embarrassment or shame to his or her family |
| Bond | a close connection joining two or more people |
| Intrinsic | essential, basic, and fundamental part of something |
| Nurture | the environment and upbringing that influence the characteristics of something |
| Concentrate | focus and pay attention |
| Epiphany | a moment of sudden revelation or insight |
| Hit the road | leave a place or begin a trip |
| Hang by a thread | be in a dangerous and uncertain situation |
| Cuisine | the manner and style of preparing food |
| Gourmet | associated with elegant and high-quality food |
| Delectable | very delicious and pleasant |
| Inhabitant | a person or animal that lives in a place |
| Sedentary | seated and physically inactive |
| Dystopian | a futuristic society characterized by oppression and human misery |
| Abandon | give something up and leave it behind |
| Sassy | bold and rude |
| Ecstatic | extremely happy |
| Despondent | sad and discouraged |
| Apprehensive | anxious that something bad will happen in the future |
| Livid | extremely angry |
