Unit Test

Mechanical energy The energy possessed by an object due to its motion and position
Watt The standard unit of measurement for power
Joule The standard unit of measurement for energy and work
Simple Machine A device that helps people do work by changing the way work is done
Chemical potential energy The chemical bonds in the food store energy that is released when we digest it
1st class lever Fulcrum in the middle; example: seesaw
2nd class lever Load in the middle; example: wheelbarrow
3rd class lever Effort in the middle; example: arm muscle
Incline plane Example: ramp
Pulley Example: flag pole
Screw Example: bottle cap
Wedge Example: doorstop
Wheel and axle Example: car wheels
