| Bronsted-Lowry Acid | Proton Donor |

| Amphoteric | Substance that can behave as an acid or a base |
| Saponification | Process of making soap from mixing fats/oil with a strong base |
| pH scale | A logarithmic scale that measures the acidity of alkalinity of a solution on a scale of 1-14 |
| Indicator | A substance that changes color if an acid or base is added |
| Titration | Process of adding a known amount of solution of known concentration to determine the concentration of another solution |
| Neutralization | The reaction between an acid and a base to produce water and salt |
| Salt | Ionic substance that is the product of a neutralization reaction |
| Hydronium Ion | H3O+ |
| Hydrogen Ion | H+ |
| Hydroxide Ion | -OH |
| Electrolyte | A substance whose water solution conducts an electric current |
| Alkalinity | Measure of the hydroxide ion concentration of a solution |
| Acidity | Measure of the hydrogen ion concentration of a solution |
