Section 1 Title - Philippine Medical Technology Act of 1969
A duly registered physician who is specially trained in methods of laboratory medicine Pathologist
A person who engages in the work of medical technology under the supervision of a pathologist or licensed physician Medical Technologist
A clinical laboratory, office, agency, clinic, hospital, or sanitarium duly approved by the Department of Health or its authorized agency Accredited Medical Technology Training Laboratory
Any school, college, or university which offers a course in Medical Technology approved by the Department of Education Recognized School of Medical Technology

To require all medical technology schools to submit an annual report, including the total number of students and instructors, list of facilities available for instruction, a list of their recent graduates and new admissions, on or before the? month of June.

Inhibition Against the Practice of Medical Technology - Registration shall not be required from the following: 1) Duly registered physicians 2) Medical technologists from other countries called in for consultation or as visiting 3) Medical technologists in the service of the United States Armed Forces stationed in the Philippines

Qualification for Examination - Every applicant examination under this Act, shall, prior to the date thereof, furnish the Board satisfactory proof that he or she: 1) Is in good health and is of good moral character 2) Has completed a course of at least 4 years leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology 3) Having graduated from some other profession
Section 17. Scope of Examination
1) Clinical Chemistry 20%
2) Hematology – 20%
3) Blood Banking and Serology – 20%
4) Microbiology and Parasitology – 20%
5) Clinical Microscopy (urinalysis and other body fluids) – – 10%
Cytotechnology, Medical Technology Laws, Related Laws and its Implementing Rules, and the Code of Ethics – 10%
The Board of Examiners for Medical Technology shall prepare the schedule of subjects for examination and submit it to the Commissioner of the Professional Regulation Commission for publication at least ? s before the date of examination 30 days
Change or amendment of the list of subjects or weights is subject to the approval of the Professional Regulation Commission and should be published ? prior to the date of examination 3 months
Section 18. Report of Rating
Within 120 days after the date of completion of the examination, the Board of Examiners for Medical Technology should report results to the Commissioner of Civil Service who will submit the results to the President of the Philippines for approval Section 18. Report of Rating
Section 19. Rating in the Examination
- In order to pass the examination, a candidate must: 1) Obtain a general average of at least 75% on the written test with no rating below 50% in any of the major subjects 2) Not failed in at least 60% of the subjects computed according to their relative weights

- Prior to entering the practice of medical technology, all successful examinees are required to take a professional oath before the Board or any person authorized to administer oaths Section 20. Oath Taking
Section 21. Issuance of Certificate of Registration
- Every applicant that passed the required examination for medical technologists shall be issued a certificate of registration provided that the applicant has/is: 1) Attained the age of 21 years 2) Paid the required application fee of PHP 115
- Moreover, the certificate of registration must be: 1) Signed by members of the Board and the Commissioner of the Professional Regulation Commission 2) Displayed in the place where they work
- The Board shall also issue a certificate of registration as medical laboratory technician without examination provided that applicant has/is: ) Paid the required application fee of PHP 50 2) Passed the civil service examination for medical technician given on March 21, 1964 3) Finished a 2-year college course and at least 1 year of experience as medical laboratory technician
