electromagnetic spectrum Is a complete range of electromagnetic waves from lowest to highest. It is used to gather imformation about distant object.
Waves Waves are a disturbance that travels throught space and matter. They transfer energy not matter.
Crest The highest point on a wave.
Though The lowest point on a wave.
Wavelenght The distance between successive crests or thoughs.
Amplitude The maximum extent of a wave mesured from the position of equilirium.
Radio waves Longest wavelength, Lowest frequency, and coolest tempatures
Radio waves example Fm/Am radio stations and stars
Microwaves Need close proximity to tramitter.
Microwaves example Microwaves, routers, cellphones, and stars.
Infrared waves "Infra" means below. These waves are just below visable light.
Infrared waves examples remote controls, flames, lamps, stars
Visable light All visable light. ROYGBIT

How do astronomers use electromagnetic waves? To study the charteristics of stars or determine the chimical comopsition.
Visable light examples Light bulbs, fire, and stars
Ultra violet light Often called black light.
Ultra violet examples Sterilization, stars, and haunted houses
X-rays High frequency waves
X-rays examples Airport sucurride , dentist office, stars, and orginisms
Gamma rays High frequency waves. Highest tempatures [Blue].
Gamma rays examples Cancer, starilization, and stars.
Spectroscopy A mesurement technique which allows astronomers to see light that absorbed, emmited or scattered.
