Words of the Week 6

TermDefinition
exit (noun) a way out from somewhere. "That door must be the exit."
hippo (noun) another word for hippopotamus, which is an animal. "The hippo likes to soak in inside the swamp."
copy (verb) reproduce something identically. "Her job is to copy documents as requested by her boss."
music (noun) sounds combined to create a harmonic sound. "They were dancing to the music."
recess (noun) period of time that an activity is temporarily suspended. "We had indoor recess because it was raining outside."
motor (noun) a machine powered by a source. "That machine is operated by an electrical motor."
index (noun) a list of names in alphabetical order. "Look at the index of the book to find what you are looking for."
rapid (adjective) happening in a short time. "She had her first three children in rapid succession."
velvet (noun) very soft shiny fabric. "The purple dress is made of velvet."
kitten (noun) a baby cat. "The kitten I just got is very playful."
button (noun) a small disk used in clothes. "My new shirt is missing one button."
rabbit (noun) a plant-eating mammal with long ears. "We saw a black rabbit at the park."
victim (noun) a person injured because of a crime or accident. "She was a victim of that car accident."
hidden (verb) past participle of hide/kept out of sight. "The easter eggs were hidden on the playground."
muffin (noun) a small rounded cake made of dough. "We had a chocolate muffin for breakfast."
