| Term | Definition |

| gravity | the force that attracts an object toward the center of the Earth, or toward any other physical body having mass |
| force | push or pull applied to an object |
| push | to use force to move someone or something away from you |
| pull | to hold onto and move someone or something toward yourself |
| friction | force that opposes movement between touching surfaces and always acts against the direction of motion |
| mass | the measurement of the amount of matter something contains |
| weight | the measurement of the pull of gravity on an object |
| motion | the action or process of moving or of changing place or position; movement |
| inertia | matter’s resistance to change in motion |
| speed | the rate at which someone or something moves or travels. |
| position | the place where someone or something is in relation to other people or things. |
| axis | The two perpendicular lines on a coordinate grid. Horizontal axis is called the X. The vertical axis is called the Y. |
| unbalanced force | forces that are not equal causing an object to move or change motion |
| acceleration | the rate at which the speed of a moving object changes over time |
| direction | a course along which someone or something moves |
