Tricks and Illusions
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Deceive | To persuade someone that something false is the truth, or to keep the truth hidden from someone for your own advantage |
| Deceptive | Making you believe something that is not true |
| Disguise | To give a new appearance to a person or thing, especially in order to hide its true form |
| Exploit | To use something in a way that helps you: |
| Fall for | To suddenly have strong romantic feelings about someone |
| Gullible | Easily deceived or tricked, and too willing to believe everything that other people say |
| Hoax | A plan to deceive someone, such as telling the police there is a bomb somewhere when there is not one, or a trick |
| Imitating | To behave in a similar way to someone or something else, or to copy the speech or behaviour, etc. of someone or something: |
| Shiver | When people or animals shiver, they shake slightly because they feel cold, ill, or frightened |
| Legitimate | Allowed by law |
| Liar | Someone who tells lies |
| Mislead | To cause someone to believe something that is not true |
| Mystifying | Very strange or impossible to explain |
| Play a prank on | Make a joke |
| Perceive | To come to an opinion about something, or have a belief about something |
| Suspect | To think or believe something to be true or probable |
| Trick | An action that is intended to deceive, either as a way of cheating someone, or as a joke or form of entertainment |
| Trust | To believe that someone is good and honest and will not harm you, or that something is safe and reliable |
