How is defined an organization? What their rules form? An organization to be such needs a set of rules governing its activities. The rules constitute the law of a given system. All the rules considered constitute a legal system.
What are the legal rules? Legal rules regulate relations between individuals of a given social group: they preserve the life of the group. Therefore, they impose duties and ensure rights.
Purposes of legal rules: Allocating resources, prohibiting harmful behaviours, transferring and coordinating its bodies
How are norms are defined? A norm is something typical, expected
What are the legal norms? The legal norms are provided by a legal system which have the power of providing binding effects on individuals subject to the system.
How can be enforced the legal norms? Through the imposition of penalties
Characteristics of norms: - Effectiveness: the ability of imposing binding rules on individuals - Generality: applicable to an indefinite number of individuals - Abstractness: applicable to an indefinite number of situations
Features of norms: - Normative: it serves as a guide to human behaviour - Institutionalised: regulated by institutions - Coercive: they can be enforced
How to identify legal norms? They are made by a competent authority and they require a legislative process
Characteristics of legal systems: Unitary, complete and coherent
What's a legal system? Titular power and authority assigned within the group
