PowerPoint Vocab Final

QuestionAnswer
Presentation software A computer program you use to organize and present information to others.
Normal view The default view that you use to write, edit, and design your presentation.
Outline tab Displays the text of your presentatin in the form of an outline, without showing graphics or other visual objects.
Slides tab Displays the slides of your presentation as small images called thumbnails.
Notes pane Used to type text that references a slide's content.
Text placeholders Boxes with dotted borders.
Object Any object on the screen that can be modified.
Slide layout Contains text and object placeholders that are arranged in a specific way on the slide.
Theme Incorporates sets of colors for fill, line and shadow.
Live preview Allows you to see how your changes affect the slides before actually making the change.
Slide sorter view View that displays thumbnails of all slides in the order in which they appear in your presentation; used to rearrange slide order
Sizing handles Small circles and squares that appear on a selection box.
SmartArt A professional-quality diagram that visually illustrates text.
Clipart Professionally designed graphics found in Microsoft Office
Picture A digital photograph, line art or clipart that is created in another program and inserted into a PowerPoint presentation.
Cropping Hiding a portion of a picture you do not want visible.
Chart The graphical representation of numerical data.
Masters Store information including the position and size of text and content placeholders, text styles, background colors, and theme colors.
Annotate To draw on slides or add commentary.
Slide transitions Special visual and audio effect you apply to a slide that determine how it moves in and out of view during the slide show.
Slide timing The amount of time a slide is visible on the screen.
Animation tags Identify the order in which ojbects are animated during the slide show.
Zoom slider Located in the lower right corner of the status bar; used to move the slide in and out quickly
Grouping Merges multiple objects into one making them easy to move together
Status bar Shows message about what you are doing and seeing in PowerPoint including the theme an view you are using.
