| Notes pane | Used to type text that references a slide's content. |
| Text placeholders | Boxes with dotted borders. |
| Object | Any object on the screen that can be modified. |
| Slide layout | Contains text and object placeholders that are arranged in a specific way on the slide. |
| Theme | Incorporates sets of colors for fill, line and shadow. |
| Live preview | Allows you to see how your changes affect the slides before actually making the change. |
| Slide sorter view | View that displays thumbnails of all slides in the order in which they appear in your presentation; used to rearrange slide order |
| Sizing handles | Small circles and squares that appear on a selection box. |
| SmartArt | A professional-quality diagram that visually illustrates text. |
