| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| point | an exact location in space |
| plane | an endless flat surface |
| parallel | lines that never intersect (they don't cross) |
| perpendicular lines | lines that form square corners where they cross |
| intersecting lines | lines that pass through the same point |
| ray | a part of a line segment that has one endpoint and continues on forever in one direction |
| line segment | a part of a line with two endpoints |
| right angle | an angle that forms a square corner ( it is exactly 90 degrees) |
| acute angle | an angle that is open less than a right angle (it is less than 90 degrees) |
| obtuse angle | an angle that is open more than a right angle but less than a straight angle (it is more than 90 degrees, but less than 180 degrees) |
| straight angle | an angle that forms a straight line (it is exactly 180 degrees) |
| degree | a unit measurement of angles |
| protractor | a tool used to measure and draw angles |
| vertex | the point where two rays meet to form an angle |
| right triangle | a triangle that has one right angle |
| acute triangle | a triangle that has 3 acute angles |
| obtuse triangle | a triangle that has one obtuse angle |
| parallelogram | a quadrilateral that has two pairs of parallel sides |
| rectangle | a quadrilateral that has four right angles |
| square | a quadrilateral that has four right angles and all four sides are the same length |
| rhombus | a quadrilateral in which opposite sides are parallel and all of its sides are the same length |
| trapezoid | a quadrilateral with only one pair of parallel sides |
| polygon | a flat two-dimensional shape with straight sides that are fully closed, the sides must be straight NOT curved, they can have any number of sides |
| line of symmetry | the line on which a figure can be folded so both halves are the same |
