barren describes a bare, empty place with very few trees or living things
desperate feeling that you really need something and you'll do almost anything to get it
despair when you feel there is no hope (also the word for that feeling)
dread a strong feeling of fear about something that is going to happen (also the verb for when you feel this)
hastily too quickly, in a hurry
drag when you pull something heavy along the ground
apprehensive feeling slightly worried or scared about what might happen next
stranded stuck in a place with no way of getting away
desolate describes a place that feels lonely and empty
ominous giving you the feeling that something bad is going to happen
impressed really amazed / pleased by something that someone did or something you saw
