Acceleration
| Term | Definition |

| negative acceleration | A decrease in the magnitude (or amount) of velocity; example: a car slowing down |
| positive acceleration | An increase in the magnitude (or amount) of velocity; example: a car speeding up |
| centripetal acceleration | Occurs when an object travels in a curved path |
| velocity | speed in a specific direction |
| calculating acceleration | acceleration = final velocity - starting velocity / time |
| units for acceleration | m/s^2 |
| acceleration | A change in velocity; change in speed, direction, or both |
