Pre-Algebra Chapter 3 Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Congruent Two figures that are the same shape AND size, or two angles with the same measurement
Similar Two figures that are the same shape, and whose sides relate by the same scale factor
Transversal A line that intersects two or more parallel lines
Supplementary Angles whose sum is 180 (angles that create a straight line)
Corresponding Angles Angles in the same position relative to the transversal
Alternate interior angles Angles between the parallel lines on opposite sides of the transversal
Same side interior angles Angles between the parallel lines on the same side of the transversal
Vertical angles opposite angles formed by two intersecting lines
