Pre-Algebra Chapter 2 Vocabulary

Translation When a figure slides by moving every point the same distance and direction
Reflection When a figure flips over a line so that each point is the same distance from the line
Rotation When a figure turns around a fixed point
Dilation When a figure shrinks or grows by a scale factor
Transformation A movement of a geometric figure
Preimage The figure before a transformation
Image The figure after a transformation
