What is a clause? A sentence that has a subject and verb.

what is a phrase? A long group of words that never have a noun/verb pair together.
List two types of phrases. Prepositional phrase and a participle phrase.
Give three examples of a prepositional phrase. Around the care, near the house, over the road.
Give three examples of a participle phrase. Tired of his arguing, Running in the hallway, Delighted by the surprise.
Define simple sentence. Must have subjects/predicates, but it only completes one thought. It has one independent clause with a prepositional phrase.
Example of a simple sentence with a phrase. John went to the park. John, Bubba, and Mary went for a very long walk in the crowded and loud park.
Example of a simple sentence with a compound sentence. The new boy joined the club and made several friends.
define complex sentence . a dependent clause has both a subject and predicate but does not express a complete thought and cannot stand alone.
list FANBOYS. For, and, nor, but, or, yet so.
What is another name for a dependent clause? sentence fragment.
Example of a complex sentence - dependent clause first. Because it feels good, it eat pizza.
Define compound sentence. FANBOYS, commas unless it is very short.
Example of a complex sentence - independent clause first it ate pizza because it feels good
