Term and Definiton

TermDefinition
Position The central idea the author supports.
Opposing Viewpoint The other side or opposite of the viewpoint
Claim A statement that supports the position.
Evidence Facts or support on why the claim should be believed.
Reasoning Showing your evidence and connecting it to the claim.
Counter-Claim A disagreement with the opposite viewpoint.
Rebuttal A response to the opposing viewpoint or a comeback.
Argument A viewpoint along with the claims and evidence used to support that position.
Relevant The right thing to say while it being important and connected.
Sufficient Enough evidence to prove their point.
Tracing an Argument Exploring how an argumentative essay is made.
Evaluate To judge the quality of something.
Rebut To try and prove a statement or claim that is wrong or incorrect.
Refute To PROVE a statement is or claim is wrong.
Fallacy A false mistake or belief based off of poor reasoning.
Ad Hominem Attack Attack on a persons definition and weakens the argument.
Emotional Appeal Making the reader upset or scared to believe or persuade that their side is better than the others.
