| Expand | Remove brackets by multiplying them out |
| Factorise | Put into brackets |
| Solve | Find the value of the unknown letter e.g. x |
| Area | The amount of space inside a 2 dimensional shape measured in squares. |
| Volume | The amount of space inside a 3 dimensional object measured in cubes |
| Perimeter | The length around a 2 dimensional shape |
| Factor | A number that divides into a given number exactly |
| Multiple | A number that is in the times table of a given number |
| Circumference of circle | Pi x Diameter |
| Area of circle | Pi x radius x radius |
| Integer | Whole number |
| Substitute | Replace a letter with a given number |
| Reciprocal of a number | 1 divided by the number |
| Prime | A number that has exactly two factors eg 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13 |
| Sum | The result you get when adding the numbers |
| Product | The result you get when you multiply the numbers |
| Difference | The result you get when you subtract the smaller number from the bigger number |
| Square number | The answer you get when you multiply a number by itself, eg 4 because it is 2 x 2 |
| Mean | Add all the numbers together and divide by how many there are |
| Mode | The most common data value |
| Median | Put the numbers in order and find the middle |
| Range | Subtract the smallest data value from the biggest data value |
| Cube number | The answer you get when you multiply three lots of the same number , eg 8 because it is 2 x 2 x 2 |
| Triangle | A 2D shape with 3 sides |
| Quadrilateral | A 2D shape with 4 sides |
| Pentagon | A 2D shape with 5 sides |
| Hexagon | A 2D shape with 6 sides |
| Heptagon | A 2D shape with 7 sides |
| Octagon | A 2D shape with 8 sides |
| Nonagon | A 2D shape with 9 sides |
| Decagon | A 2D shape with 10 sides |
| Prism | a 3D shape which has identical faces at both ends |
