Line of Best Fit

TermDefinition
Scatter Plot A graph with points plotted to show a possible relationship between two sets of data.
Correlation The description of the relationship between two data sets.
Positive Correlation Two data sets have a positive correlation when their data values increase or decrease together.
Negative Correlation Two data sets have a negative correlation if one set of data values increases while the other decreases.
No Correlation Two data sets have no correlation when there is no relationship between their data values.
Line of Best Fit A straight line that comes closest to the points on a scatter plot.
Outlier A value much greater or much less than the others in a data set.
Trend Line A line of a scatter plot that helps show the correlation between data sets more clearly.
