| Verbal irony | Involves saying one thing but implying something very different. People often use verbal irony when they are being sarcastic. |

| imagery | Helping the reader form a picture in their mind. |
| Rhythm | Makes you tap your foot. |
| Line breaks | Writing in shorter lines to slow the reader down. |
