| Term | Definition |

| Integer | Any number from the set {…, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, …} Where… means continues with out end. |
| Negative integer | A number that is less than zero.it is written with a - sign. |
| Positive integer | A number that is greater than zero. It can be written with or without a + sign. |
| Absolute value | The distance between a number and zero on a number line. |
| Opposites | Two integers are opposites if they are represented on the number line by points that are the same distance from zero, but on opposite sides of zero. The sum of two opposites is zero. |
| Rational numbers | A number that can be written as a fraction |
| Origin | The point of the intersection of the X-axis, and the Y-axis coordinate plane. |
| Coordinate plane | A plane in which a horizontal number line vertical number line intersect at their zero points. |
| Ordered paired | A pair of numbers used to locate a point on the coordinate plane. |
| X-coordinate | the first number of an ordered pair |
| Y-coordinate | the second number in an ordered pair |
| X-Axis | the horizontal number line in a coordinate plane |
| Y- axis | the vertical number line in a coordinate plane |
| Inequality | A statement that compares two quantities using <, >, ≤,≥, or ≠ |
