| cell | The basic unit of structure and function in a living thing. |
| tissue | Groups of similar cells that perform the same function. |
| organ | Body structures composed of different kinds of tissues that work together. |
| organ system | Groups of organs that work together, performing major functions in the body. |
| homeostasis | The process by which an organism’s internal (inside) environment is kept stable in spite of changes in the external (outside) environment. |
