Leading Coefficient | the coefficient of the first term of a polynomial in standard form |
Parabola | the shape of the graph of a quadratic function |
Perfect Square Trinomial | a trinomial whose factored form is the square of a binomial |
Quadratic | an equation of degree 2, meaning that the highest exponent of this function/equation/expression is 2 |
Standard Form | ax2 + bx + c = 0, where a, b, and c are real numbers and a ≠ 0 |
Vertex | the highest or lowest point on the parabola |
Vertex Form | a quadratic function written in the form f (x) = a(x - h)2 + k, where a, h, and k are constants and (h, k) is the vertex |
Vertical Shift | a shift of the parabola up or down, with no change in the shape of the parabola |
Zeros | for the function f, any number x such that f(x) = 0 |
