What does CAA stand for? Comprehensive articulate agreement
Define CAA. A statewide agreement governing the transfer of credits between NC Community Colleges and NC public universities.
What does TAAP stand for? Transfer assured admissions policy
Define TAAP. Assures admission to one of the 16 UNC institutions.
What is a co-requisite? A course taken at he same time as another course.
What is a pre-requisite? A course taken before taking a specific course.
What are general education courses? Courses required for a four-year degree.
What are elective courses? Courses that count as elective credits towards gradutation at a four-year college.
What are some of the Student Support areas for students at CPCC? Academic advising, student life, student services, campus security, library, student learning.
What is a competitive major/program? Requires students to apply for acceptance in the intended major.
What is the Transfer Credit Appeal Process? If the CAA terms have not been honored by the four-year institution, they can follow the Transfer Credit Appeal Process.
Goal Setting-- SMART Process Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time specific.
What is Satisfactory Academic Standing? Students must attain a GPA of at least a 2.0 or better.
What does BDP stand for? Baccalaureate degree plan.
Define BDP. A pathway that provides a roadmap for NC community college students for a four-year plan.
What are grants, Scholarships, and work-study? Grants and scholarships are free. they do not need to be paid back. Work-study is a part-time job on campus that acts like financial aid.
What are all the things that factor into the cost of college? Room and board, transportation, books and supplies, tuition and fees, personal expenses.
Admissions requirements for transfer students. Essays, SAT scores, references, Transcripts, etc.
What role does “D’s” play in getting your associate degree and for transfer? They don't. You must make a grade C or better in order to go on your transcript or transfer somewhere.
What are the 6 attributes of a successful college student? Self-awarness, self-motivation, emotional intelligence, interdependence, self-efficiency, accountability.
What are the four steps of our decision-making process? Make a decision, Translate the plan into action, Identify and assess, research and develop options.
What is plagiarism? plagiarism is the act of stealing someone else's work and taking it as your own.
What is My College? An online system at CPCC where you can register for classes, see your financial aid, grades, schedule, transcripts, and course catalog.
What kinds of things do transfer universities do to help students with their transfer? Orientations, tours, and learning communities.
What are some ways to “test out” your career? Internship, job shadowing, and volunteer.
What is company culture? An organization’s values, ethics, vision, behaviors, and work environment.
Professionalism and Career Ready Competencies. Be present and prepared, prioritize and complete tasks, and have attention to detail.
What is handshake? A job board designed for college graduates and students.
What is a course sequence? A suggested course order for your major.
