Energy Levels & Electron Orbitals

TermDefinition
Quantum Mechanical Model specifies the probability of finding an electron in the three-dimensional space around the nucleus and is based on solutions of the Schrödinger equation.
Electron Density the concentration of electrons in an electron cloud of an atom
Orbital Describes the possibility of finding electrons in certain regions of an atom.
Principal Energy Level one of a limited number of energy levels in an atom.
Sublevels a division of a principal energy level in an atom
Energy Levels (also called electron shells) are fixed distances from the nucleus of an atom where electrons may be found
