Who ruled early Rome? The etruscan kings from northern Italy ruled early Rome.
What were upper-class citizens called? Upper-class citizens, called patricians, came from a small group of wealthy landowners.
What did the creation of the republic give Rome? The creation of the republic gave Rome a more democratic form of government.
Who retained the power after Rome became republic? The patricians retained all the power.
What did the dramatic turn do to the plebeians? The dramatic turn took over angry over their lack of power, the plebeians marched out of the city.

What year did the republic not function? By 14 C.E., the republic no longer functioned.
Who is Caesar Augustus? Caesar Augustus is Julius Caesar’s grandnephew and adopted son, Octavian; Rome’s first emperor.
Who is Julius Caesar? Julius Caesar is a Roman general who ended the Roman Republic when he seized power and became dictator for life
What did the Romans want to protect and gain more of? The Romans wanted to protect their borders and to gain more land on which ordinary people could farm and live.
What happened to Rome in the third period? By the end of Rome's third period of expansion, the republic collapsed.

What did the enslaved people in rome do? People who Romans enslaved did much of the actual work of farming.
What do poor children do on a daily basis? Many poor children in Rome were sent to work instead of to school in order to learn trades, such as leatherworking and metalworking, to earn money for their families.
What do wealthy families do? In wealthier families, boys and girls were tutored by their fathers, or frequently by enslaved people who were often educated Greeks, until they were about six years old and then the boys went to school.
What were the main foods in ancient Rome? The main foods in ancient Rome were bread, beans, spices, a few vegetables, cheeses, and meats.
What happened at the age of 14 to 18 and a roman boy? Between the ages of 14 and 18, a Roman boy celebrated becoming a man.

What was latin? Latin was adopted by different peoples and developed into French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and Romanian.
How many people could attend the Greek assembly? Theoretically, 40,000 people could attend the Greek Assembly—in practice, about 6,000 people attended.
What is the meaning of western civilization? Western civilization is generally seen as the heritage of ideas that spread to Europe and America from ancient Greece and Rome.
What happened to the people under the Roman Empire? Under the Roman Empire, hundreds of territories were knitted into a single state
What's the meaning of Greco-Roman culture? Greco- Roman culture is the mixing of elements of Greek, Hellenistic, and Roman culture produced a new culture.
