| equivalent rates | Rates that have the same unit rate. |
| equivalent ratios | Two ratios that describe the same relationship |
| metric system | A decimal system of measurement, based on powers of 10, that contains units of length, capacity, and mass |
| rate | A ratio of two quantities using different units. |
| ratio | A comparison of two quantities; The ratio of a to b can be written as a:b This can be a part to part, part to whole, or whole to part comparison |
| ratio table | A table used to find and organize equivalent ratios |
| unit analysis | A process used to decide which conversion factor will produce the appropriate units. |
| unit rate | A rate that compares quantity to one unit of another quantity. |
| U.S. Customary System | A system of measurement that contains units for length, capacity, and weight |
| value of a ratio | The number a/b associated with the ratio a:b |
