Laws and principles describe a natural phenomena that has been observed but they do not explain how it works eg gravity

Geocentric the earth is at the centre of the Universe.
Heliocentric the sun is at the centre of the universe
independent variable a variable that you change eg time
Dependent variable variable being tested and measured
Controlled variables variable that is kept constant
control is used for comparison eg helps you find out if the independent variable has an effect on the dependent variable.
