why does republican motherhood matter? Because it showed the mothers roles, and what they were supposed to do to their sons.
Anti-Abolitionism Anti abolitionist were people who were against slavery being abolished by law
Why does anti-abolitionism matter? Because at the time, many white people who wanted slavery abolished were told that they were going "too far", or that they were doing too much
The Monroe Doctrine a policy announced that stated that American Continents would be closed to European colonization.
Why does the Monroe Doctrine matter Because this established the idea that America was more dominant
American Colonization Society Stated that they'd end slavery, but do it gradually by moving black people out of America to Liberia
Why does the American Colonization Society Matter? because although it had some funding, it didn't work because once Africans were sent to Liberia there was a cultural split, and many weren't even from Liberia.
Reundevouz A place where trappers and traders would meet up to trade for goods.
Why do Reundevouz's matter? Because although this is where they met up, traders would usually overcharge. Which is unfair because many trappers were either killed by diseases or animals.
What is the Kansas Nebraska Act of 1854 An act created by Steven Douglas that divided kansas and nebraska up, and allowed them to decide if they wanted slavery or not
why does the Kansas Nebraska Act of 1854 matter Because after a while, the bill got passed which led to a border war in kansas.
What was Dred Scot v Sandford A case that took place in Winconsin between a slave who was suing for freedom.
Why does Dred Scott v Sandford matter? Dred Scott was a missouri slave of an army man, who took him to wisconsin which was a free territory state. While they were there, the slave owner died so Scott sued for freedom.
What was the civil war results and effects The Civil war had an effect on many places and people. One of the biggest problems was that half of the men were gone to war.
Why does the civil war results and effects matter Because it forced women to find employment, and it also created a gender imbalance in the south, which caused gender roles to be questioned.
Civil War and Slavery During the civil war, many slave owners were afraid of slave revolts because it was a lot happening at the time.
Why does Civil War and Slavery matter Because since they feared this happening, they became more harsh on their slaves.
Reconstruction The Social Process of trying to bring everyone back together after the war.
Why does reconstruction matter? Because After war, reconstruction era wasn't simple for many people like black people. Although slaves were freed, inequality existed.
What was whiskeys rebellion A violent protest by western Pennsylvania farmers against the federal excise tax on whiskey in 1794
Why does whiskeys rebellion matter bc farmers from Pennsylvania rose up in protest of what they saw as unfair taxation.
Jeffersons view on race He thought that people were harsh with slaves, and that the conditions slaves were in should be better
Why does jeffersons view on race matter? Because although he spoke out against a lot of things for slaves like the slave trade, he owned several of them and profited off of them
What was the Missouri Compromise? an agreement passed by the U.S. Congress in 1820 tht allowed Missouri to become the 24th state in the United States.
Why does the Missouri Compromise matter? a law was attached to their bill tht stated tht slavery would be lessened there, & people got angry.Maine was also applying for statehood so congress combined the two into a bill and made it to where slavery was prohibited above state line except missouri
John Marshall and the supreme court Cheif Justice John marshall was a significant person who dominated courts and molded the development of the constitution.
Why does John Marshall and the supreme court matter because as stated above, he had a part in the constiutition, and also strengthened the judical branch.
Civil War death toll The civil war death toll was important because of how big it was, 750,000 people were killed.
Why does the civil war death toll matter Because out of every war it has the most deaths, and at first people thought it was 620,000 people.
What are steamboats Paddlewheelers that could travel up & down river in deep or shallow waters,
Why are steamboats important Because it was developed into Americas first inland freight and passenger service network
