TermDefinition
Semi lunar valve stops the backflow of blood into the left ventricle
Left atrium receives oxygenated blood from the lungs and then empties the blood into the left ventricle
Left ventricle pumps the oxygenated blood to the body
right atrium receives deoxygenated blood from the body and pumps it to the right ventricle
Right ventricle pumps the deoxygenated blood to the lungs
Pulmonary veins collect oxygenated blood from your lungs and carry it t0 your heart
Pulmonary arteries carry deoxygenated blood from your heart to your lungs
Tricuspid valve controls the flow of blood form your hearts top chamber to the bottom chamber , also helps prevent blood from flowing backward into either of these chambers
Inferior vena cava transports almost of of the deoxygenated blood from the abdomen back to the right side of heart for oxygenated blood
Superior vena cava returns deoxygenated blood from the head , neck arm and chest regions of the body to the right atrium
Aorta the main artery delivering blood away from heart to the rest of your body
Mitral valve regulates blood flow from the upper left chamber into the lower left chamber
pulmonary valve opens allowing deoxygenated blood to leave the right ventricle and flow to the lungs via pulmonary artery
aortic valve ensures that the oxygenated blood does not flow back into the left ventricle
