IEP/504 Information

Guidance and Assessment

TermDefinition
IEP - Individualized Education Plan A plan that makes accommodations for students who have been identified with a disability and needs accommodations for learning and is considered special education law.
LRE- Least Restrictive Environment a law that promotes students with disabilities to learn along students who do not have a disability
FAPE - Free and Appropriate Education Schools must be free, provide appropriate resources for students, and be available to the public (free)
504 Plan A plan that changes the environment of the classroom for a student, provides accommodations and removes barriers and ensures that students are not discriminated against
SMART Goals A goal that is specific, measureable, attainable, results oriented and time-based
manifestation a behavior that is a direct result of a student's disability
mainfestation determination hearing A meeting with the IEP to termine whether a student's behavior isa manifest of their disability and what type of punishment may occur.
IEP Team Members include the teacher, parents,, intervention teacher, specialist, school administrator, specialist , and sometimes, the student
IDEA - Individual Disability Education Act a law that makes available a free appropriate public education to eligible children with disabilities throughout the nation and ensures special education and related services to those children.
OT A therapy that helps students with life skills - eating, using a fork, self care routines
PT Therapy that helps students with large and fine motor skills; students gain physical strength
ELL students whose primary language is not English
