An example of one of Ponyboy's external conflicts is... his strained relationship with Darry which results in a physical fight

The idiom "I almost jumped out of my skin" when Two Bit scared Johnny and Ponyboy at the movies characterizes... the greasers because they are scared of being "jumped" by the Socs.
The motif of "unfairness" in Ponyboy's life is seen in the quote "If I see you in the hall at school or someplace and don't say hi, well, it's not personal..."
How did Dally "die gallant" He risked his life to save Johnny and Ponyboy and died on his own terms.
Cherry tells Ponyboy, "Things are rough all over." How does this reveal a major theme of the book? It shows that everyone has problems and suffering is a part of being human.
Two themes of The Outsiders are: "Stay gold, Ponyboy, stay gold..." and, "Things are rough all over."
Johnny's "allusion" to Robert Frost's poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay" has the effect of... ...determining the theme by expressing Johnny's desire for Ponyboy to stay innocent.
