| Non-Renewable Energy | Sources of energy that can't be easily replenished like coal, oil and natural gas. |
| Energy | It makes things happen! (Or more formally: the ability to do work) |
| Generator | Changes energy from one form to another. |
| Engine | A machine that converts chemical energy from burning fuel to motion. Used to make trains, cars and buses go. |
| Coal | A solid fossil fuel that can be burned for energy. |
| Oil | A liquid fossil fuel that can be burned for energy. It is often used to make gasoline and plastics. |
| Natural Gas | A gas that can be burned for energy. It is often used to heat our homes and stoves. |
| Ethanol | A liquid renewable fuel made from plants like corn. |
| Electricity | Flow of electrical energy from one place to another. |
| Circuit | Path that can allow electricity to flow, if closed. |
| Conductor | Materials that electricity can easily flow through (e.g., metals). |
| Insulator | Materials that electricity cannot easily flow through (e.g., wood, plastic, rubber). |
| Volts | Measure of potential energy between two points in a circuit or in a battery. |
| Series circuit | Circuit in which all the components are in a chain so that the current has only one path to take. |
| Parallel circuit | Circuit in which the components are connected in parallel to each other; each component has its own separate branch. |
