Describe George Wilson. How does he react to Tom’s arrival? He is Myrtle’s husband, he's poor and he can't move up social ranks. He is very patient and very interested in Tom since he could make a business deal with him
How does Myrtle behave as the party progresses? She changed dresses and put up an act as if she was rich, she became more superficial
Describe the two ways in which Nick differs from the other guests at Gatsby’s party Nick was invited to the party while the guests just showed up; Nick was the one guest who actually had an interest in knowing who the host was
What does Nick think of Gatsby when he first meets him? He thought he was elegant and wealthy
Describe the events and atmosphere of the party. Everyone is having fun and gossiping, drinking
What does the owl-eyed man in the library find extraordinary about Gatsby’s library? He thinks that the library books are real and they aren’t just cardboard with realistic spines
What does Nick learn about Jordan Baker after he has spent some time with her? That she is dishonest, that she cheated in her career and he realizes that he feels attraction towards her
What does Gatsby tell Nick about himself? He tells him where he comes from, that he is the son of a wealth dead family, that he went to oxford, and that he fought bravely in WWI and shows his medal
What does Jordan tell Nick about Daisy, Gatsby and Tom? That Gatsby and Daisy used to date before he left for war, when he came back he wanted to find Daisy but she had already married Tom
Describe the meeting between Gatsby and Daisy. It begins as very awkward, Gatsby is just really clumsy and nervous but after Nick leaves them be alone for a little, they are happy but find Daisy crying tears of joy
