Term | Definition |

Simplify | to solve a numerical expression |
Exponent | indicates the number of times a number is multiplied by itself |
Base | the number being multiplied |
Power | a term comprised of a base and exponent |
Order of Operations | rules that let you know which operation to perform first |
Evaluate | to replace a variable with a number and simplify |
Numerical Expression | a mathematical phrase that contains only numbers and mathematical operations |
Algebraic Expression | an expression that contains at least one variable, numbers and mathematical operation symbols |
Variable | a letter used to represent an unspecified number |
term | a number, variable or the product/quotient of a number and variable |
constant | a term that does not contain a variable |
coefficient | a number written before the variable |
simplest form | an equivalent expression that has no like terms or parentheses that replaces another expression |
like terms | terms containing the same variable and/or exponent |
