Physics Unit 1
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Speed | scalar quantity that refers to how fast something is moving |
| Scalar | only magnitude, no direction |
| Speed Equation | speed = distance / time |
| Distance | the total length measure between objects without regard for direction |
| Velocity | vector quantity that refers to how fast something is moving |
| Vector | both direction & magnitude (ex: -5mph or 5mph to the left) |
| Velocity Equation | velocity = displacement / time |
| Displacement | how far you are regardless of how you got there |
| Displacement Equation | Δt = xf - xo |
| Average Velocity Equation | v = Δx / Δt or v = (x2-x1) / (t2-t1) |
| Position Equation | x = xo + v(t) |
| Models Of Motion | equation, graph, table, & dot diagram |
| Dot Diagram Speeding Up (left to right) | .____.__._. |
| Dot Diagram Slowing Down (left to right) | ._.__.____. |
| Dot Diagram At Constant Speed | . . . . . . . |
| How To Calculate When Two Objects Will Collide | 1) create position equations -- 2) set them equal to get time -- 3) plug time into original equations |
