Term | Definition |
---|---|
Plasma | mater with enough energy to over come the attractive forces with it's atoms composed of positivity and negatively and end. |
Energy | the ability to cause change, measured by joules. |
Temp. | measure of the kinetic energy of all the particles that make up an object. |
Thermal energy | The sum of the kinetic and potential energy of the particles that make up an object. |
Evaporation | When liquid becomes so hot it becomes gas. |
Sublimation | the process of a solid changing directly to vapor without forming liquid. |
Condensation | When enough water vapor is so dense that it turn to liquid. |
Pressure | Amount of force exerted per unit area. |
Pascal | SI unit for pressure. |
buoyant force | ability of a fluid, which include liquids, gases, to exert an upward force. |
viscosity | a fluids resistance to flowing, |
Gay Lucass Laws | states that if volume stays the same, the pressure of the gas increases as temperature of the gas increases, and vice versa. |
Charles Laws | states that for a fix amount of gas where pressure stays the same, the volume of the gas increases as the gas’s temperature increases, and vice versa. |
Boyle's Law | states that for a fix amount of gas where temperature stays the same, volume of the gas increases as gas pressure decreases, and vice versa. |
fluid | nonsolid state of matter in which the atoms or molecules are free to move past each other, as in a gas or liquid. |
gas laws | laws that state the mathematical relationships between the volume, temp, pressure, and quantity of gas |
