| Term | Definition |

| Character Progression | the way in which a character grows as a person due to his experiences in a story |
| Dynamic, or well rounded | a character that is realistic, and grows and changes. |
| Statistic, flat, or two dimensional | A character that is a stereotype or does not change. |
| Protagonist | A main character or characters that face and solve the conflict of the story |
| Antagonist | any important character that may cause or add to the conflict |
| Irony | The opposite of what is expected |
| Verbal Irony | When a person says the opposite of what is actually meant |
| Situational Irony | When the opposite of what is expected actually occurs |
| Dramatic Irony | When the audience knows that the opposite of what the character expects will soon occur |
| POV | The way in which a story is told (3 methods) |
| 1st person POV | A character in the story is the narrator |
| 3rd person limited POV | The narrator is someone outside the story. They are more reliable with the information they give, but do not share everything, like what a character is thinking |
| 3rd person omnicient POV | The narrator is someone outside the story. They are more reliable with the information they give, and do share all information, like what a character is thinking |
| Suspence | Created by a writer to keep the audience wondering what will happen next and creates a certain tone or mood |
| Mood(tone, atmosphere) | The feeling of a story (Humorous, dark and scary, mysterious, ect.) |
| Aside | A comment on stage to the audience that other characters do not hear. |
