States of Matter (Properties of Matter Part 2)
| Term | Definition |

| solid | Its particles are closely packed and vibrate in place. It has a definite shape and a definite volume. |
| liquid | It’s particles move freely. It has a definite volume but takes the shape of its container. |
| gas | It has fast moving particles that spread out. It has no definite shape and no definite volume. |
| melt | Change state from solid to liquid. |
| freeze | Change state from liquid to solid. |
| condense | Change state from gas to liquid |
| evaporate | Change state from liquid to gas. |
| state | A form of matter, such as solid, liquid, gas, or others. This counts as one of the properties of that matter. |
| atom | The smallest part of an element; one of the smallest building blocks of matter. |
| element | Made of only one type of atom. |
| molecule | Two or more atoms bonded together. |
| property | Fact that is true because of the material something is made from. Characteristic. |
