| base | power IS the repeated factor |
| exponent | a power indicates the number of times the base is used as a factor |
| perfect square | the square of a whole number |
| numerical expression | an expression that contains numbers and operations (does not have an = sign) |
| evaluate | another way to say, find the value of |
| order of operations | a set of rules to evaluate a numerical expression |
| factor pair | A set of two nonzero factors whose product results in a definite number |
| prime factorization | when a number is written as a product of its prime factors |
| common factors | factors shared by two or more numbers |
| factor tree | A diagram used to find the factors of a composite number |
| greatest common factor | The greatest of the common factors shared by two or more numbers |
