atrium one of the top two chambers of the heart that receives blood from veins
ventricle one of the two bottom chambers of the heart that receives blood from the atrium and sends it out of the heart through an artery
valve one-way "doors" that keep blood traveling in the right direction
blood vessel a tube in which blood travels throughout the body
vein a blood vessel that carries blood toward the heart
systemic circuit one of three parts of the body's circulatory system - this circuit carries blood throughout the body and returns it to the heart
artery a blood vessel that carries blood away from the heart
circuit a line, route, or movement that starts and finishes at the same place
