| Conjecture | a mathematical statement that has not yet been proved |
| Theorem | a statement that has been proved, or can be proved. |
| Vairable | an letter or term that represents an unknown number |
| Constant | a number on its own, or sometimes a letter such as a, b or c to stand for a fixed number |
| Coefficient | an integer that is written along with a variable or it is multiplied by the variable |
| Solution | n action or process of solving a problem. |
| Inverse Operation | pairs of mathematical manipulations in which one operation undoes the action of the other ( - &+) ( * & /) |
| Addition Property of Equality | subtracting the same number from both sides of an equation does not affect the equality |
| Subtraction Property of Equality | subtracting the same number from both sides of an equation does not affect the equality |
| Multiplication Property of Equality | if both the sides of an equation are multiplied by the same number, the expressions on the both sides of the equation remain equal to each other |
| Division Property of Equality | if both sides of an equation are divided by a common real number that is not equal to 0, the quotients remain equal |
| Identity | an equality that holds true regardless of the values chosen for its variables |
| Absolute Value Equation | a statement that contains an absolute value. |
| Extraneous Solution | values that we get when solving equations that aren't really solutions to the equation. |
| Literal Equation | an equation with more than one variable, and every variable has an important characteristic |
| Formula | a fact, rule, or principle that is expressed in terms of mathematical symbols. |
